This is a common concern when deploying Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices, such as cameras, access points, or phones. Will transmitting power along with data over Cat6 cables reduce your network's performance? The short and reassuring answer is: No, not significantly.
Cat6 cable is specifically designed to support high-speed data transmission (up to 10 Gbps over short distances) and the electrical current required by PoE standards (such as PoE+, PoE++, up to 90 W). Its improved specifications, including increased bandwidth (250 MHz), tighter cable twists, and superior shielding compared to older Cat5e cables, effectively minimize interference (crosstalk) between the data pairs and the power supply.

While DC injection can theoretically introduce slight electrical noise, the robust design of Cat6 cables and modern PoE switches/injectors, equipped with advanced noise filtering, makes this impact negligible for standard commercial applications.
