    The 250 μm fibers are placed in a loose, high-modulus plastic tube.

    The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filler compound. Two-fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is positioned on the side of the core as a non-metallic strength member. The tubes (and fillers) are twisted around the reinforcement member into a compact, circular core. Once the cable core is filled with the filler compound to protect it from water ingress, the cable is completed with a PE sheath.
