The 250 μm fibers are placed in a loose, high-modulus plastic tube. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filler compound. A fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) core is positioned at its center as a non-metallic strength member. The tubes (and fillers) are twisted around the reinforcement element into a compact, circular core. After filling the cable core with the filler compound to protect it from water ingress, the cable is completed with a PE jacket.
