A registered connector (RJ) is a standardized physical network interface for connecting data or telecommunications equipment. The physical connectors used by registered jacks are primarily modular connectors and 50-pin miniature ribbon connectors. The most common twisted-pair connector is an 8-position, 8-contact modular connector (8P8C), commonly known as an RJ45 connector.
