CAT3 (UTP) telephone cable is unshielded twisted-pair cable designed to reliably carry data at speeds up to 10 Mbps, with a potential bandwidth of 16 MHz. It belongs to a family of copper cabling standards commonly used every day, which also includes CAT5, CAT5e, and CAT6. Category 3 was a popular cabling format used for both voice and data for many years. Currently, Cat 3 is still used in two-line telephone systems, as millions of homes and offices are still wired with CAT3 for voice.
