What is FTTH

When we talk about FTTHFirst, we need to talk about fiber optic access. Fiber optic access means that optical fiber is used as the transmission medium between the central office and the user. Fiber optic access can be divided into active optical access and passive optical access. The core technology of the fiber optic subscriber network is light wave transmission technology. Multiplexing technology for fiber optic transmission is developing very rapidly, and most of it is already in practical use. Based on the degree of fiber penetration among users, it can be divided into FTTC, FTTZ, FTTO, FTTF, FTTH, etc.

Fiber To The Home (FTTH, also known as Fiber To The Premises) is a method of transmitting communication over fiber optic cable. It connects fiber optic cable directly to the user's home (wherever the user needs it). Specifically, FTTH refers to the installation of Optical Network Units (ONUs) at residential or business premises, and it is the type of optical access network application closest to the user in the optical access series, excluding FTTD (Fiber To The Desktop). The key technical feature of FTTH is that it not only provides higher bandwidth but also improves network transparency in terms of data formats, speeds, wavelengths, and protocols, relaxes environmental and power supply requirements, and simplifies maintenance and installation.
