1. OPGW Fiber Composite Ground Cable

The products OPGW They integrate the functions of grounding wire and optical communication, and are mainly used for communication lines of new overhead high-voltage transmission systems of 35 KV and above, and can also be used to replace existing ground wires of old overhead high-voltage transmission systems, augment optical communication lines and conduct short-circuit currents and provide lightning protection.

Structural characteristics of the products OPGW: stainless steel tube optical fiber unit and aluminum-clad copper wire, braided aluminum alloy wire and cabling; the stainless steel tube optical fiber unit is located in the center or inner layer of the braided layer.

2. MASS Self-supporting metallic optical cable

MASS (Metal Aerial Self-Supporting) is a structurally similar cable to OPGW (Open Point Ground Wire) with a single-layer stranded core. Unless otherwise specified, the stranded metal wire is typically made of galvanized steel, resulting in a simple structure and lower cost. MASS is a product that bridges the gap between OPGW and ADSS (Advanced Optical Fiber Support). When used as a self-supporting optical cable, the primary considerations are strength and sagging, as well as the safety clearance from adjacent ground conductors/wires and the ground. Unlike OPGW, it does not require consideration of short-circuit current and heat capacity, OPPC, insulation, current-carrying capacity, and impedance, and ADSS, it does not require consideration of field strength at the installation point. The function of the outer metal wire is solely to accommodate and protect the optical fiber. In the case of a similar breaking strength, although MASS is heavier than ADSS, its outer diameter is approximately 1/4 smaller than that of the ADSS core tube and approximately 1/3 smaller than that of layered ADSS. For a similar diameter, the breaking strength and allowable stress of ADSS are much lower than those of MASS.
