In recent years, with the development of the optical information industry and related promotions, FTTH (Fiber to the Home) has become the model solution for the recent development of access networks. It adapts to technological advancements in the optical field and aligns with the high-speed, high-capacity signal transmission requirements of users in optical networks. In high-capacity FTTH access projects, the mechanical bending and tensile strength of conventional indoor optical cables can no longer meet the requirements of FTTH indoor cabling. In response to market demand, high-strength, low-bend-radius leather-clad optical fiber cables have emerged and are widely used in FTTH access networks.
The maximum transmission distance of the drop cable can reach 70 kilometers. However, in general, the building phase covers the fiber optic backbone network up to the house and then decodes it through the optical transceiver. However, if a one-kilometer project is carried out using leather-clad cable, it must be an external installation. Leather-clad cable itself is too fragile, making it very easy to break, and its durability is not very high.
Due to its softness and lightness, the drop cable is widely used in access networks. The scientific name for the drop cable is butterfly-shaped entry cable for access networks; it is also called a butterfly cable because of its shape. It is used to form optical cables and figure-eight optical cables.
Coated cable: It is a bend-resistant optical fiber that can provide higher bandwidth to improve network transmission performance; with two parallel FRP or metal reinforcements, the optical cable has good compression resistance to protect the optical fiber; the optical cable has a simple structure and light weight, and great practicality; it has a unique groove design, easy to peel, can be convenient to splice.
If it's single-mode, it can be farther, but if the one-kilometer project is done with a leather cable, it must be an outside line project, so it feels like the leather cable is too fragile, very easy to break, and doesn't have the strength for such a long run.
