In GDTS cable, single-mode/multimode fibers are placed in loose tubes made of high-modulus plastics and filled with water-blocking materials. These loose tubes and the necessary insulated copper wires are twisted around the central metallic reinforcing member to form a compact, circular cable core. For certain high-fiber-count cables, the reinforcing member is covered with polyethylene (PE). The PSP is applied longitudinally around the cable core before a PE jacket is extruded over it.
